"Unique" Project Exploration

This project was completed during the Academy Software Foundation Summer Learning Program 2023 as way to practice using my Nuke and Maya skills, which I was developing during the program under the guidance of my mentor, the community, and online courses.

The statue was initially modeled in Blender in the fall of 2022, and was inspired by a verse from Beyoncé's song "Alien Superstar". During the ASWF SLP, my mentor suggested using a previous project or model to create a completed scene, and I instantly knew I wanted to use this one. I wanted to focus primarily on compositing, lighting, and rendering with this project. The background assets were mainly sourced from online (as credited in my breakdown sheet) and later retextured.

The environment/ story I created was inspired by my love of Roman and Greek architecture and mythology, as well as Beyoncés work on "Alien Superstar", and the feeling of mysticism, awe, and femininity I admire about it.

I used this project as an introduction into rendering, aov's, mattes, masks, and more.
