SCADpro x Filmhedge LED Volume Project Exploration

When I discovered SCAD had an LED Volume, I was more than eager to learn more about such an innovative new piece of technology. Thankfully, this opportunity presented itself spring of my freshman year in the form of a SCADpro, a collaborative class in which students work on a professional-level project for a company collaborating with SCAD. This specific collaboration being with FilmHedge.

This project allowed me and my team to collaborate to explore not just Unreal Engine, but practice using it to create environments that could be used as backgrounds in an LED Volume.

Through this project, we explored cloth sims in Unreal Engine, as well as how the scene would translate onto the LED Volume and camera. It also gave us the opportunity to practice turning concept and script into visuals, and presenting our final product.

The class offered amazing experience collaborating and working in a creative team, all while utilizing such a fascinating upcoming piece of technology.
